Summer Weekend Warriors 7/19: The Whole Kit and Kaboodle

We covered a lot of ground on the SUMMER! list this weekend!

Friday afternoon/evening Lucy was invited to go to the splash pad with her best friend, N and a teacher from school. This was a prize from the silent auction fundraiser held at their preschool earlier this spring. From what I hear, they had lots of fun, but took some time out to just "be cool."

Saturday was a busy day. In the morning, we headed up to the Maple Grove Arboretum to have her 4-year photos taken. It was a good time and a beautiful morning, can't wait to see the results!

After photos, we headed to Hopkins for the Raspberry Festival. We spent a couple of hours browsing the vendors, listening to a band in the park, going to the farmer's market, making friends with a dog named Lucy, and grabbing some lunch.

Saturday afternoon when we got home, we were pretty tired...

Saturday night Husband grilled up some steaks and we had the corn on the cob we purchased at the farmer's market. First corn of the season, and somebody couldn't get enough!

That evening, Daddy went over to a friend's house, so it was just us girls, and of course, we had to go get ice cream! It was an absolutely gorgeous evening, so we purchased a cone at DQ and walked over to a little park nearby to check out Minnehaha Creek.

Sunday we went to church and then took advantage of another beautiful day by playing some baseball in the yard. Lucy showed off the skills she and her dad have been working on. Those lines on the driveway help her remember to start her feet closer together, then take a step out. I must say, she has a pretty wicked little swing!

That afternoon, I talked Husband into taking Lucy to a movie so I could have some alone time and get a few things done. We didn't tell Lucy until just a few minutes before they were going to leave, and once Husband whispered it in her ear, she exploded up the stairs shouting, "MOMMY! WE'RE GOING TO 'SPICABLE ME 2!!" Needless to say, it was a hit.

Just before I was expecting them home, I got a last-minute request for dinner with Husband's cousin and his family, who are in town from California. Neither of us had met his wife or two kids, and they were anxious to meet Lucy after hearing of all her antics on Facebook. After her usual shy period, Lucy, Sammy, and Justin were giggling away. It was great to meet them all!

We didn't make it even halfway home from dinner before Lucy fell fast asleep. We put her right to bed, and that's where she stayed until I had to wake her up this morning. So I also had an unexpected evening to myself. Ahhhh...

We crossed some things off the SUMMER! list: splash pad, farmers market, outdoor concert
