There is a point in life where you just accept the fact that you get excited about things you never thought you’d get excited about. Like a vacuum cleaner that shows you how much dirt you’re picking up. Or a brownie pan that doesn’t get all gross after a few bakes. Or a reliable hair dryer. It’s the simple things, really.
I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that our dishwasher went out. This begged the question of if other appliances should also be replaced at the same time. The fridge was a logical choice because it was pretty close to its expiration. The light had shorted out months ago, and it was running pretty loud all the time. A little research online revealed the thing was manufactured in 1986. 1986! It was made when I was 10 years old. Considering the average life of a refrigerator is around 14 years, this 27-year-old was a relic. Old Bessie did her job, but was likely wasting A LOT of energy in the process. The time had come for her to retire.
So this morning, this beauty was delivered.
I know, I know…there should be trumpets or backlighting, angel wings maybe? I felt like the delivery guys should have brought it in on a royal litter. It was a bit of a struggle to find a model that fit our space, which is a little on the smaller side. This one fits just right, and we can make ICE now, people. And get water from the DOOR.
The dishwasher, and now this. The range and microwave will be replaced later this year. Our kitchen is growing up.
