"I'm a Preschooler!"

At the end of February, Lucy transitioned out of the toddler room into a preschool room at her daycare/school. They had been trying to transition her slowly over a few weeks, but eventually gave up because once she got a taste of life with the "big kids," she didn't want to go back! Her teachers said some kids are just ready, and she was one.

I thought she was learning a lot in the toddler room, but seeing her growth since starting in preschool has been so much fun. We hear a lot more songs, letters, numbers, days of the week, months, etc. etc. etc.! We had a little conference a couple of weeks ago, and her teacher said she has made a great transition. She loves her craft time and it's hard to get her away from using markers and scissors (two forbidden mediums in the toddler room). She is coloring with much more purpose and using more patterns, shapes, and colors. She also loves her music class every Friday, and has a lot of fun with all of her friends. Her biggest challenge is that some days she does not like to listen to her teachers and clean up (hmmm, sounds just like home!), and sometimes she and her little friend P.J. have to be separated because they like to tussle over good spots to sit or gang up on the teacher in their non-listening.  But overall, her teacher said that Lucy is kind and plays well with others. Some of her toddler friends are now starting to making the transition to preschool, and she likes to show them around and as her teacher puts it, is like a "big sister." What more could a parent ask for?

Around home we often hear, "I can do it, I'm a preschooler!" It's a little bittersweet to see our little girl expressing her independence so fully, but we're very proud of her!

Easter 2012

We spent Easter up here in Minnesota this year. We celebrated by going to church, having a little indoor egg hunt at home, and then going to Husband's sister's house. Here are a few of my favorite pics from the holiday.

We made cupcakes and dyed eggs on Saturday.
Lucy definitely has a love affair with jelly beans.
Mmmm!

Found one!

I used to get these kind of Easter baskets when I was a kid!
This was from Grandpa Lee.

Cousin H's bouncy ball was a big hit!

Omaha

Lucy and I just spent an amazing (and exhausting) long weekend in Iowa and Nebraska. We went to my parents' house on Friday night, drove to Omaha on Saturday, drove back to my parent's house on Sunday, and home today. Lots of miles on the car; extra thanks for my hybrid today!

The main event was the wedding of my cousin Nick to the beautiful Katie...fun was had by all and it was great to spend time with family and friends. In addition to the wedding we took in the Omaha Zoo, visited my college roommate and her family, and got some extra time with grandma and grandpa (not to mention Lucy got to see all three of her uncles in the same weekend, even if not all at the same time). A few of my favorite photos from the weekend are posted below.

Lucy loves her Great Uncle Bob.

Two of my brothers, Josh and Jason.

Trouble (and extreme cuteness) x3.
